CGI Video Mixtape, Director’s Cut, 2021 An AM radio transmission embedded in a stray satellite is captured by advanced beings. It contains a glimpse of the hope and resilience of a struggling civilisation. The beings send an envoy along with a fleet of spaceships to observe and nurture this peculiar culture born of tension and hardships. They begin their journey in a cultural melting pot – a textile market. The narrative gradually unfolds as a torrent of meaning and value unaffected by chronology or structure: Accumulation of wealth and altruism, exploration of technology and spirituality, fake news, self-discovery, competition and cooperation, and a grand celebration. Along the way, the characters and storytellers become blurred and irrelevant. Only the spirit of hope and optimism persists. With a shared obsession for all sorts of high-octane, fast-paced sounds Gabber Modus Operandi explode an extensive range of influences into vibrant, outrageous productions. Rimbawan Gerilya was one of the early adopters of VJing culture in Jakarta back in 2007. Siko Setyanto is a dancer and choreographer from Solo, Central Java, Indonesia.
